Born in Timaru, South Canterbury, I spent the first 20 years of my life there.
On leaving high school, I joined a bank and took life drawing lessons at night school to further my interest in art.
After 5 years in the bank, I moved to Christchurch to take up a position as an advertising artist.
Fourteen years later I quit as creative director of the agency to concentrate on easel painting, with graphic art as an added source of income.
Over the years I have painted the New Zealand landscape, mainly in watercolour. I have had many successful exhibitions and my work is hanging in the United Kingdom, Middle East, Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States.
Overseas trips in recent years to the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Austria and Switzerland have yielded new subjects for paintings in both oils and watercolours.
I have lived with my wife Gill at 52 Tui Street, Christchurch for the last thirty five years.
